| A changing US strategic policy must be driven by a new understanding of the security threats facing the United States and the relative strengths and weaknesses in the measures adopted to meet them. The Stanley Foundation convened a workshop at its 49th Strategy for Peace Conference on US strategic posture and conventional capabilities, bringing together nuclear experts, policymakers, and academics to discuss issues ranging from current nuclear doctrine to what steps the United States should take to work toward a world free of nuclear weapons. The dialogue focused on areas in need of reassessment as a new US administration develops a Nuclear Posture Review in 2009. |
